Just curious what weight it takes to have a "world class" pumpkin? They're all world class to me but is 1,000 pounds the benchmark for world class status?

If the seed is world class well known genetics would not any fruit coming from that seed be world class? Maybe the dude growing it just is not up to world class management at any given time.

Frankly a new grower with a four hundred pound fruit is world class, in my book. He or she put in the work with error or soil problems. It is a class person who sticks it out and eventually improves the personal best.

Agree, Last Year ( first year) my persional Best was 25 Lbs, ( but had too many issues with animals, bad weather and PM which killed my plant early, This years goal is 100 Lber :-) If i can get an 100 lber I would be happy, As long as I can beat last years record and have fun doing so that's all that matters to me, I'm just in it for the fun

TO ME "WORLD CLASS" IS DEPENDENT ON WHOS MAKING THE DETERMINATION

A TRUE WORLD CLASS PUMPKIN IN MY OPINION IS ONE THAT CAN COMPETE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD
IN OTHER WORDS BIG AND HEAVY, BE IT THE PUMPKIN ITSELF, THE OFF SPRING IT HAS PRODUCED OR THE GROWER WHOS GIVEN BACK TO HELP THE NEW AND INEXPERIENCED ENJOY THIS HOBBY

BUT THAT STATEMENT IS INTENDED FOR THE SERIOUS, TAKE NO PRISONERS, DO WHAT EVER IT TAKES, HORSE SHOE IN YOUR BACK POCKET GROWER

LIKE MY GOOD FRIEND DAVE STATED "HES IN IT FOR THE FUN"
PROBLEM IS WE ALL START OUT FOR THE FUN OF IT AND SOMEWHERE ALONG THE JOURNEY WE BECOME MORE INTENSE AND COMPETITIVE, ESPECIALLY IF YOU GO TO WEIGH OFFS AND YOUR PEANUT GETS SET DOWN NEXT TO ONE OF THOSE MONSTERS ( L O L )

ALL IN ALL IT REALLY DOES NOT MATTER WHAT YOU GROW OR HOW WELL YOU DO IT ,SO LONG AS YOU ARE HAVING A GOOD TIME AND KEEPING YOURSELF BUSY
