In my post further down, I described the deformity on the 1097.5 female I pollinated. It is now day three. The fruit has more than doubled in size, so I assume the pollination took. If it's going to abort, when should I expect it?

From my experience fruits can abort anywhere from four to fourteen days after pollination.

If the fruit gets soft it will abort.

Yea Pap! Does not matter how big. We saw a 500lb. fruit loose the shine last year. It was on the way out. To me that's abortion at a higher level.

i think i mighta read somewhere on here that these "doomed" fruit can go on to lead normal lives. so i hope it is your biggest one... in the same reading i believe i read the port of entry into the pumpkin from the flower might, MIGHT not develop like the rest of the fruit, but you never know! good luck with it-----eric
