I've been talking with TSUs Ag department... They recommend getting several growers from all different regions to all grow the same varieties during the same year In order to get a true idea of a variety's hardiness. They believe it would make for a more 'solid' study of a small number of GP varieties.
I'm still keeping track of meteorlogical records - and weekly/bi-weekly records of what the pumpkins in the 2005 pumpkin patch are doing ... If we do this for the same varieties for a couple years - will give an even better indicator.... so if any of you are currently/have grown any of the varieties that are on my list - and can send me a printed diary and weather record.. I'd REALLY appreciate it!!
I'm going to start collecting a 'list' of willing growers that have room for at least 3 'study varieties' in their gardens for 2006. If anyone is 'game' please email me privately...Then we can all start hammering out some details.... [email protected]
