From what I've learned (remember I'm experienced with giant gourds, melons, etc - but not Pumpkins....) immature pumpkins should be green in color...
The Softball-sized Pumpkin that I just cut off the 517 Glover vine was pale white/yellow.... any ideas??

That pale white/yellow is considered normal for AGP's.

Cucurbita Maxima(AG) Start pale yellow and mature to Orange unless it is a squash( they start green and finsih green). Cucurbita Pepo start green and mature to orange. These are what most growers refer to as a hard stem pumpkin.
