What if anything should I apply to a 500 gallon tank that I'm using to store/heat water? I am in a hot humid area if that makes a difference. Water will be cycled once per week but some water will always remain in the bottom.

I have algae in my tanks but I think it's good for the plants when I water. If you want to get rid of it, get some Barley pellets from a Pet store (pond dept) as barley has a nature chemicle that kills algae. I have a 2000 gallon pond with fish in it. I add a new bag of pellets every 2 months and it keeps the pond clean. Eddy

The algae won't harm, and may be good for the plants, so I wouldn't worry about it. But it may clog your hoses so if you want to get rid of it you could try a small amount of chlorine, or perhaps Eddy's pellets... Frank
