i have not planted pumpkins at my house for a while because something stranges happeneds every year that causes me to end the season early with nothing. this year i thought just for fun i would throw one in just to see what kind of crazy crap would go down this year......well i havent been disapointed!
i have never seen this one before and was wondering if anyone else had? my male flowers....to be more percise the meat and potatoes part of the flower is only about 1/4 the size it should be and has no......i mean zero pollen on it!recently i have had my dog fixed but i dont remember having my pumpkin fixed!!!!!
thank god for a great partner in danny who lets me get my hands dirty at his place because god knows there aint nothin good comin out of my patch. there might be rabbits at dan's place....but thats still better than what i got!
thanks danny ole boy!

Yea I have seen his small Male parts....(on his flower....Get you head out of the gutters) LOL!!!!
I also have never seen anything like this....strange indeed..
as as far as growing pumpkins at my place..It's my pleasure......and without you ...I would be totally culled except one plant at this stage .....Your calm aproach and Armstrong Constant harping finally paid off....
so far no more damage since early AM...

I have had this before on a few plants. I dont know what it was, but the end result was a plant that would not set fruit. Perhaps it is a sterile plant. I have seen this on an 810 Dill, and a 511 Woodward The 511 ended up setting a really messed up open pollinated fruit that hit 300 pounds or so, but it had NO seeds in it. Completely seedless.

Best thing I can suggest is pollinate everything on the plant with pollen from the other patch, and see what you get.

I had the same problem on a 758 Ferry 1998 plant I grew last year. The males had very small reproductive parts inside of them, and I also pollinated 8 females on the plant but no fruit would get bigger than an apple, so I pulled the plant and tossed it to make room for my others.I think the plant was just a sterile plant as Tom says in the previous thread ..JK

Maybe the pollen somehow was misplaced by premature ejection.

how is your phosphorus level. i have had problems with flower production, both male and female flowers, and i used a shultz's liquid concentrate 5-30-5 fertilizer with a little iron and magnesium too. i used it as a drench and foliar and all male and female flowers increased in size and looked good in less than 10 days after application. maybe this is not your case and your phosphorus levels are fine, but if the plant is not producing, give it a try.
it is schultz's bloom enhancer or something like that and you can get it at a decent nursery and garden store. just last week my buddy Timmer's plants were only throwing out mini females that would die before pea size and his males were tiny. this week he has females forming normal and the male flowers are getting larger in size.

follow up: Timmer used the schultzs bloom enhancer 7 days ago and saw great improvement. i failed to mention he used it and then saw better results. do not mix chelated calcium along with this product, most chelated clacium products says on the label not to mix with liquid phosphorus.

yeah, since phosphorous is key to the flowering process
i think it should be the first thing to be considered when there IS a problem with that process...good luck! eric

The female blossoms all look normal and i have never had any problems with and of my other plants not being able to produce, so i would have to guess its just a bum plant!
my wife suggested renting some pumpkin porn....may be that would help get the juices flowing!
