I was just wondering if the speader/sticker that I am using would burn my plnts? I mixed my daconil (1 tbs. in 2 gallons of water), Triazacide (1.5 Tbs. Per gallon), and Miracle Grow (1 Tbs. Per 2 Gallons) and the speader/sticker, in my spayer. I misted my plants with that mix, and now my plants are burnt AGAIN! If you could help I would really apprieciat it!

Thanks,
Mikkal

P.S. They are not burnt bad but it is very upsetting!

Tremor, I know spraying in mid day sun is a bad idea but is there an ideal temp and or humidity that is best? Is cooler better?

I don't think there is a hard & fast rule here. Young growth that is soft will exhibit spray damage under less strenuous conditions than older tougher leaves. Let's think about how Mikkal's situation might help us understand.

If Mikkal was using Bravo (or any of the other 54% 6Lb Flowables) then the early season low rate should have been 1.5 Pints per Acre or .5 oz per 1000 sq ft. So his rate for this one element sounds reasonable.

But we have the Triazicide in there too. This means more emulsifiers & "stuff" sitting on what might be very young leaves. We don't know how many leaves Mikkal's plants have on them yet but conventional experience suggests that 4 back on every vine would be too young to treat with a combination tankmix. After all the secondary vines are terminated or stoppped growing (post fruitset), time will harden the end-vine leaves off to the point they can handle this cocktail.........IF....

We all accept that evening sprays are best right? Well what happend if the humidity is high all night? The spray residue might not dry. Or worse yet, it might START drying but fail to finish. Now each spray droplet is higher in concentration that it was at the time of application. Then the sun rises......OH OH.....

Now we have what could have turned into a 2X spray application (half of the water in each droplet evaporated) & the sun is rising & the mercury is climbing. Soon the edge of each leaf is drooping and.....Toast.

A "first thing in the morning" irrigation is required to wash the residue off the plants & save them from destruction....under certain conditions.

Perhaps a rule of thumb would be 70%+ low humidity PLUS 65*+ night time low EQUALS "Get out the hoses & save the plants" if we sprayed the evening before.

There really is no right answer to Mike's question. The age of the plant, the relative humidity, & the anticipated weather for the next 36 hours are the most critical data when making spray related decisions.

We don't know enough about Mikkal's situation to help him yet but the hypothetical stage is set to learn more when he next chimes in.

I sprayed them at 7:30 in the evening, Very low humidity and a temp of about 65. It is just weird since I mixed all three ( Daconil, Triazacide, and Miracle Grow) in the same tank last year and had no problems. Then this year I add the spreader/sticker and I have burnt them twice!

Thanks for the Help,
Mikkal

I also forget to mention that it rained a little that night.

And as for the plants, I only lost 1-2 leaves per plant. But the worst thing is that I think the vine tip of the 500 Wallace is toast:(. I have a secondary vine that I will train as the new main.

once the reason and/or conclusion is attained to this
post, i might add that the normal dosage for Miracle-Grow
15-30-15 is one tablespoon PER gallon of water for outdoor plants, so, thus far you are using half-strength Miracle-Grow, and if it does not have anything to do with the leaf-burning problem, then, increasing it to 1 TBSP. per gallon
would be of no consequence, perhaps beneficial in the long run, to the plant, i believe. eric

I just wanted to let you guys know that my plants are grwing ut of the burnt leaves. The 500 Wallace main vine was fried but the secondary I am training as the new main is growing 8+ inches per day. The 1230 Grew 12 inches yesterday! and my other plants are juts starting to run.

I will try to put up some pictures soon.

Thanks for the help,
Mikkal

P.S. Eric I am using half strength miracle grow because I spray it every other day. Thanks for the help though. Good Luck to everyone.

Mikkal:
I put the hurt on my plants last week with Triazicide & Daconil in one mix. I think it was the Triazicide along with the high temps. Either that, or the fact that I only waited five days from the previous application of Sevins/Mancozeb...Plants are growing out of it, though...
