Ok this is probably boring - but I have only lived in Oklahoma for one year now and we have fire flies.

I know there all over! but they eat bugs and snails and slugs and I think thats good for us gardeners.

Has anyone ever noticed that when there is lightning that those silly little bugs actualy flash back - i guess they think its another fire fly. I think its very neat to see them buzz up out of my garden and fly around blinking off and on.

The best thing about fireflies is the larva...glow worms!

Next best thing is when one smacks into your windshield at night and leaves a glowing smear! lol!

No...the best best thing is when you feed a firefly or lightening bug to your pet toad it lights up in his stomach for a while....neat to see a glowing belly flashing (in a morbid kind of way)

Did I mention that fire flies bite and draw blood. Man it smarts!
