Last Year I used sticks to hold my vine down, I see allot of people useing what appears to be little plastic U shaped hold downs, I was wondering were you can get these as I have looked at a couple garden centers and cant find them, I was thinking of useing coat hangers cut down and bent but wouldnt they rust or have a greater chance of digging into the vine when the wind blows them around?
thanks Dave

Save the A** Chewing, They are a buck a dozen at the dollar store. Color doesn't matter, but white is easier to find in the fall. Just cut the hook off on each side of the hook, then cut it in half on the bottom. I cut at an angle cause it seems to go in the ground easier

I use galvinized brace wire cut in 10" lenghths and bent into "Croquet hoops" these don't rust and work nicely.

LOL @ brooks ! sorry ... I figured you would have thought to go buy some ! lol ! I forgot to include all the directions... they go something like this.
they go something like this ... figured out about how many dozen you needed... go to the store and that many plus 3 extra dozen... drive home ... take all but 2 dozen and hide them in the garage ... take the 2 dozen inside and give them to your wife ... say something really sweat and nice like " Hi honey, I thought that we could use some hangers so I bought some at the store. Where would you like me to put them ?" she tell you where... then you say "I think we should go out Friday? where would you like to go? " then later that night go out to the garage and clip up all the others and find a nice spot for them... two weeks later when she asks what they are ... just say ... "oh just some pumpkin stuff I picked up a while ago, some hooks to hold the vines down " a little advanced planning goes a long ways ! LOL!
