Name a plant pathologist to whom you have sent leaf specimens who was good, fast (and accurate) in diagnosing their pumpkin disease...What was turn-around time and cost?

Thanks!

Find one that is close to you Chris.

If no good, then call 203-974-8601 for the office of Dr. Sharon M. Douglas. Mary is the cucurbit person....don't recall her last name.

You will need to ship samples immediatley after collection Next Day Air UPS only on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday & make sure to call ahead to whatever lab you do decide to use. There is no greater waste of time than shipping samples to a lab that is close or has a vacationing pathologist.

The next most stupid thing to do is let the sample turn to mush whereupon the pathologist is likely to not find the causal pathogen through the bacteria that is turning your sample into compost. LOL

Always include the a written synopsis of the spray materials used & the dates applied.

Thanks, Steve. I tried the local extension service a several years ago...they wanted the whole plant, and after 6 weeks or so said they thought there was some Rhizoctonia, but they weren't sure it was the source of the problem I was having at the time. -- Chris
