My son and I sent away this year for our Dill's Atlantic Giant pumpkin seeds. It's our first year growing giant pumpkins and we bought one seed from a 700/900 lb. parent pumpkin and two from a 500/700lb. parent. After discovering this site a few days ago, and after reading all the entries, I realized we should have bought even more specialized seeds, i.e. LaRue's, or ones with a known genetic line. Next year when we start the seed buying process, how do we go about finding these specialized seeds?

You can purchase at one of the club auctions. They are held almost every week end all winter. Usually these are "Proven seeds" and the money goes to fund prize money at the local weigh offs. You can also request unproven seeds directly from growers. This will usually cost only the price of postage.

Last year was my first year, and I requested seeds from growers here at bp.com, and now I have hundreds of great seeds, enough to last me a long time...

Join the PGVG, or email one of the fine growers on this site and you will have the finest genetis on the planet. Caution you still have to provide the cultural conditions to get a Whopper! Welcome aboard!!!

send out bubble packs galore and you'll end up with plenty of seeds! PGVG is always a good option as well!
Best of luck but remember that most ag seeds can do great if they have the proper care. Protect your plants!

The GVGO still has lots of membership seeds left if your interested. Membership is $20 and you'll recieve at least 12 seeds from some great growers, plus some other varieties of giant vegetables. You will also receive 3 newsletters per year as well. Email me if your interested.
