I boil hot pepper powder and water (chile arbol)then strain it thru womens stocking, put in sprayer and spray plants everynite,to prevent squirrels from bitting, (it works some)they may bit, but wont keep eating. But my question is i wonder if its also good for plants i sprayed all last yr and did pretty good ,it almost never seems to burn and i spray heavy right up to tip of main (except i wouldnt spray heavy on a 100* plus day) i know theres vitimin c but wonder what other people think??

I don't really care for chemicals to keep the critters away. Large or small. I don't know if it will work on the pumpkins but I make a solution of garlic, red pepper flakes and water and let it seep till it smells terrible. I use it on my lettuce and it keeps the critters away from the lettuce. Not only do the rabbits, etc stay away from the lettuce but it keeps insects away. This year I am looking for neem oil instead of insecticide. But I may continue with my garlic/pepper to keep the larger animals away.

The chile arbor isn't hot enough to really repel a hungry squirrel.
I used Fatalli peppers, dried and ground them. There as hot as habaneros but grows in a shorter season. Wicked hot be carful.

Green light makes neem oil found it
at Lowes last week.
Will give neem a shot this year see
how it works.

Mine is seeping 3 days now but we are suppose to get thundershowers tonight so no sense in putting it on now and it will wash off in the rain. I will wait till tomorrow. And it is really starting to smell bad. I was at Lowe's yesterday and I knew there was somethi9gn else that I needed to look at. I left the list at home. I will have to go back during the week and get that Neem oil.
