Today we enjoy a 3 day weekend often gathered with family & friends in a backyard cookout. We might even make our Town's parade.

I'm not trying to instill anyone with guilt. Instead, I am respectfully offering up a reminder lest we should ever forget those who made the Ultimate Sacrifice for the American dream.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

God Bless

Very nice Steve, very nice. Folks, lets not forget those who made the ultimate sacrifice for us. I challenge you...better yet ...I dare you...Walk up to a vet this weekend shake his hand and look him in the eye and tell him "thank-you". "Greater love hath no man, that he lay down his life for his friends".

I always like to read "Flanders Fields" Very touching.
The brave soldiers that fought and/or died, deserve the deepest respect of all...Never forget!!!

Here's another awesome poem:
"We cherish too, the Poppy red
That grows on fields where valor led,
It seems to signal to the skies
That blood of heroes never dies"

By Moina Michael

No, I'm not American, It's a respect thing for our brave and friendly neighbors.

I saw an older friend today that is a WWII veteran. He was sitting on a chair on the side of the road watching the parade pass by. He mustered all the strength he could to wave his little flag that he was holding. He told me that he was too ill to participate and he was crying. My two sons hugged him then we saluted him. He said "Thank you". He was thanking us. After all he and is fellow veterans did, he said "Thank you" to me. God Bless the veterans. That goes for Canadian vets also.
