Anybody tell me if they have ever had anything like this before. Al Eaton was kind enough to give me a 1446 seed when I met him at Niagara on the understanding that it would be planted this year.Well I planted it a few weeks back. It has been treated the same as the other pumpkins and squash, but with only 7 leaves on the plant it now has two female flowers side by side on the main vine.....just 1" from the seed leaves. What gives? I await your comments.

Two years ago I had the same thing happen on my 961 Daletas.
I cut them off and than they came along as normal. Nothing
to worry about. Best of growing in 2005.

wow, very strange.

Sounds like you may have a good plant there since bruce's 961 grew a 1300 pounder. ;)

maybe we are getting closer to the end game! A pumpkin that grows with no space except the area it takes up!

Alun - How is the Phosphorus level in the patch?

Did you use any 10-52-10 or 15-30-15 or the like when planting?

No Ferts at all before or after planting. I'll put a pic in diary page in a couple of days.
