Hello - first year grower here - I have culled down to one pumpkin on my 814 Girgis, all vines except the main vine have been deadheaded. Estimated weight is 120 lbs. Should I deadhead the main vine which extends about 20 feet beyond my very first attempt at a giant pumpkin? Should I immediately prune any blossums that occur on this vine? I also have a beautiful 457 Derosiers which is growing four beautifully shaped although smaller pumpkins. What a great new hobbey, Thanks again for the great seeds and everyones valuable information!!! Good luck to all of you in these final months. Wannabebig

Wannabe!
When I first started, I was told when main vine reaches 30' or so, to terminate and bury it. Since then, I have found out that there is a growth hormone in main vine, and when terminated, stimulates other vine growth! Pruning any plant promotes more growth. I would continue to pinch off any female blossoms, but let main vine go, it will slow down on it's own!
