The month of my has been one of perseverance here in Southern Oregon. I complained about the incessant rain and cool temperatures, and begged for nice warm weather. Six days ago, the high in my patch was 57 degrees with a low of 41. Tuesday's high in my patch was 77, and Wednesday it hit 97 with an overnight low last night of 58. Huge change, burnt leaves but not too bad. Certainly better than the rain though.

WOW ... that is pretty extreme. I feel for you. I was in the same boat ... May 11th, woke up to snow, low 33°F, high for the day was in the low 40's ... May 20th, sunny & hot - High at the patch was 90°F, low 65°F. but I think (hope) we're past it.

Dale , It has been different that is for sure, but do like me, put your swim trunks on ( bikini in my case) and enjoy what we are getting. My plants havent burned from the heat, I didnt even notice wilting on mine.

It hit 79° yesterday and 86° today. My pumpkins are "fainting" in the sudden heat! The edges are turning brown in spite of cooling sprinkles. They simply cannot adjust so quickly to the temperature changes!

So, the low this am was higher than the high six days ago, and today my thermometer hit triple digits for the first time in '05 with a reading of 100 on the mark. Here we go, good thing the plants are small, as I have yet to get my misters up because I am still working on getting my new water source to the patch.
Cary...no wilting here either, just some light burns around the edges of some new growth. My 1028.5 that was started early for the August fair now has a 4 foot main and a couple 22" leaves. Hope to pollinate in time to get well over 500lb by mid August.

Hit 90 here, but that wasn't my problem, the 40 mph winds yesterday were my problem. Destroyed my hoophouse and "kinked" one of the plants mains, the other plants suffered severve beatings to the leaves.

Outside today 'twas like being near a hair dryer. winds 10 to 15 w/20mph gusts. Record temps tomorrow @ 93 plus. Get out the misters and make sure that those stems are supported.
Totally fried a leaf on one of my 711 Handys. Neither of them takes the heat very well.

95 in the shade here today, man it sucked to work outside in that! ON brighter news, my plants are taking this heat with ease, not wilting at all.

Hello, were all int he same boat, eh? From cold to hot. Today I took a thermometer into the patch at noon, in it recorded over 100 Farenheit. If I hadn't been misting every five to ten minutes, my plants would be toast. Very, very hot up here in southern B.C. And today, unfortunately, it started to get windy here to, so it's doubly bad.

Here we go again! Thunderstorms, lightning hit a tree 100 yds or so from the house, wind and a high temperature today 36 degrees lower than yesterday's high of 94. High of 58 today is the same as the Thursday night low. All I can do is laugh...roflmao. Dale
