Is it just me or does it seem that Dill rings just aren't showing up in big pumpkins as they once were? If you look at pictures of big pumpkins grown in the 80's and early 90's there seems to be a lot more Dill rings showing. At the weigh-off's I've been to these last few years the Dill rings that were showing up seemed to be minor. Not like it used to be. Is this a Darwinism where seeds from these pumpkins are just not getting planted? Is it just a higher failure rate as the pumpkins are getting bigger? Thoughts...

the weights are going up and the ones that had dill rings-- split. That left only the ones with out them to survive.....that would be darwinian...LOL
