My pumpkin seedlings are just about ready to be transplanted. The patch is tilled and ready. I plan on diggin a hole about 2ft deep and refilling with somewhat composted cow manure and some 10-10-10. Can anyone give me some advise on what else I could put in the hole. As for a foliar spray, I use Nitron's Sea Grow Plus. Last year I used Miracle Grow, two different kinds at different times. So any help? My first try was 150#, second year 453#, this year I hope for 800#. I know there is some one out there to tell me more. Most of my garden products are mail ordered since I live in a rural area. thanks

I dig a hole 1 ft. deep by 6 ft. in diameter for each plant. I fill the first 6" in with grass clippings, straw, organic matter and compost, then 6" good garden soil, then mix compost, garden soil and sand equally until I have about a 6" hill like a pitchers mound, I rake it out. This year I did this to the whole garden. The base is not the only part that should be fertile but it's a good start.

I was told a while ago to watch out for fresh grass clipping because they decompose very hot. My first year I thought it would be a good source of nitrogen with the 30-4-4 lawn ferts I fed the grass but never did it. Were the clippings aged? Just wondering. Thanks, Rob
