I grew two plants indoors under fluorsecent light, and four plants, outdoors no cover no help just mother nature.
The two indoor plants have a bit of stem poking up out of the ground, maybe about an inch, the outdoor ones are just poking up, but the cots are low riders, litterally at ground level.
The indoor ones were done with adv starting, the others two were filed, and two were not, all outdoor ones were soaked for four hours in water.
any thoughts

Gary, I've noticed this too. Vine crops grown idoors always seem to get leggy, while those grown outdoors stay close to the ground. I'm guessing that being exposed to natural sunlight, causes the ones outside to stay close to the ground. The ones inside get leggy, because they are straining for better light. Wind outside may also play a role. If they would get leggy outside, they be would be more at risk for wind damage. Tomato plants exposed to the wind and sun, tend to be more stocky and compact as well. Just my thoughts.

Gotta keep those flourescent lights very close to the pots and they won't get leggy....

I agree with Kyle. Nothing beats real deal sunshine. It is wise to always get them under the sun ASAP.
