There have been an awful lot of off topic dairy entries this spring. As a screener, I leave these entries parked on the server for John & Ken to look at. I'm sure they both have better things to do than trying to scrutinize the content of the thumbnail images we get for reviewing purposes especially at this time of year when 20-40 entries might be pending approval.

So a little heads up; if it doesn't contain soil & a pumpkin, some posts could take a while to get on if they ever do at all.

I like to share images of the fun stuff I see & do too. However server space for BigPumpkins is still free.....for now. I would hate to see that change.

If I want to post my families vacation pictures on the internet I need to pay an online service like York or seek out one of the many free picture hosting websites.

Done ranting....no offense intended.

The above comments are very important and one hundred percent supported.

Subject mater should be pumpkin patch and/or gardening, grower, growing related.

Perhaps there should be a picture limit that would reduce the four shots of one subjective view when the single best shot would tell the story. If I had a limit, of 50 shots, I guareentee you I would be a bit more selective...and still get the year in, at a glimpse.

i am guilty of posting non pumpkin related pictures more than anyone. i never even thought about server space or
how much time goes into reviewing pics. that is a great point.

i just liked to add some human element and have fun because a lot of my friends and relatives get a kick out of it. i just thought if it wasn't obscene, then it gets clicked in a second after it was viewed. sorry for the inconvenience and i will keep my posts to a minimum for strictly documentation reasons.

I am absolutely the worst offender and have volunteered to have my diary deleted in order to free up space. I haven't heard from anybody about it. I admit I got very carried away with the fun of it, and I apologize. Sorry guys.

Well damn now.........don't over look the medically proven healing, from the fixation, of eyes that fall, on pleasing subjects such as all the good looking ladies that get shown off helping, in the total picture, of pumpkin doings.

There are some really nice looking hoers and growers out there. I feel a little ill. Please bring, on the pleasure, of sharing, the beauty around us so I can maintain my good health.

To quote Ken, "please rein it in a little". He's not saying to stop posting pics to your diary, just back off the personal stuff a little. I myself am guilty of a few off topic pics, such as dead tomatoes and such. But I think if it's tasteful, possibly garden related, or of personal interest, I don't think Ken or John have a problem with it. Getting carried away is easy. We feel that we are all one big happy family, and want to share much of our personal lives with each other. On the other hand, server space is limited, and the reviewers must be swamped this time of year. Let's please not take it as a personal afront when asked to tone it down a little. I'm sure a little personality in each diary is acceptable, but there is such a thing as going to far.

how far is too far? how many pictures are allowed per year?
what is the maximum number of entries per year? how many non pumpkin related pics are allowed if any?
all of these boudaries should be established.

if someone is overstepping the boundaries now, a simple email could eliminate the tar and feathering that comes with posting on the message board.

erin (boom boom), please do not hold the comments of some people here as the feeling for all of the people who visit this website. when i talked to you via email, i said i was through posting on bp.com. i have since come to realize from people like yourself and some others who emailed me that this would be the easy way out and is not the way i should go about it. i will continue to post and will pull back on the reins a little as far as off topic pictures go. but i will not eliminate off topic pictures all together. i feel it adds to the human element of who we are. there is more to life than just growing pumpkins. yes, this is a free pumpkin growing website and i love posting here and having fun, and i do appreciate greatly all the hard work that ken and john have put into making this site as cool as it is. but if you can't have a little fun, than it is not worth it. the last thing i want to read is a scientific, stale, strictly pumpkin related diary. actually, the diaries that do have some off topic pics mixed in with their pumpkin growing successes and failures tend to be the ones i read the most, because they are both informative and entertaining.

so boom boom, please take the time and re-think about keeping your diary going like i did. and for all those who distastefully ran you through the mill, let the karma get them this year in their patches. what goes around comes around and they will get theirs, i can promise you that.

I just think its time for this site to have a make over. It needs to be updated imo. So you can post pictures in threads and stuff. i really think it would make it a better site. So if someone has a problem. They can just post a picture in the thread rather than in their diary or something. And we wouldn't have to load the pictures up on this site. Also, I think it would be cool if we could submit pictures to our diaries via those free hosting sites.

Thanks Monty and Glenn, I glad to see some people understood!

Please just keep 80 to 90 percent of your diary entries on topic.

Ben, the site IS being done over. In the new version you will be able to post comments within grower diaries.
