I've noticed a lot of people mentioning (and demonstrating) the need for a spell check for diary and message board submissions. Check out www.google.com, and download the google toolbar. It now has a function to check spelling on I think any and all forms. I just spell checked this entry, and it worked like a charm. Except it doesn't recognize the word "Google".

That is so sad that google can't recognize itself. Severe identity problem... lol.

I can now safely use the word "Meteorologist" in my diary. Google Toolbar worked for me!

Be carefull of toolbars. Check the privacy policy. Most toolbars are data miners. They track the sites you visit and, how often, how long etc. and more. They collect data for their marketing research.

I don't see a privacy policy for Google tool bar. Another tool bar> http://www.alexa.com and their privacy policy> http://pages.alexa.com/help/privacy.html

IN ADDITION, WHEN YOU PERFORM SEARCHES USING THE SEARCH FUNCTION AVAILABLE ON ALEXA'S TOOLBAR SERVICE SOFTWARE VERSION 6.5 AND HIGHER OR ON THE ALEXA WEBSITE, YOU OFTEN WILL BE TAKEN TO A WEBSITE DETAIL PAGE AT AMAZON.COM. IF YOU HAVE AN ACCOUNT ON AMAZON.COM AND AN AMAZON.COM COOKIE ENABLED, YOUR SEARCH RESULTS WILL BE TRANSMITTED TO AND LOGGED BY AMAZON.COM AND MAY BE CORRELATED BY AMAZON.COM WITH ANY PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION YOU MAY HAVE PREVIOUSLY PROVIDED TO AMAZON.COM.

Alexa's Toolbar Service improves your ability to use the Web. One of its most important features is Related Links, which tells you about websites that are "related" to the ones you are viewing while surfing the Web and which you may find interesting. It does this, in part, by logging and analyzing the Web surfing patterns of Alexa users, which we call usage paths. These usage paths are also used to create research and commercial reports that analyze aggregate Web usage patterns.

Alexa does not attempt to determine the identity of any Alexa user by analyzing Web usage paths.

What types of information does Alexa collect?

If you are visiting the Alexa website (alexa.com), we collect the following information: the full Uniform Resource Locator ("URL") of the Web page from which you came to alexa.com; your Internet Protocol ("IP") address, which may include a domain name; the date and time for each page you view; the name of and information about any advertisement that brought you to the Alexa website; searches you perform, links you click on; and computer and connection information such as browser type and version, operating system, and platform. We also transmit cookies to your computer so we can track the pages of our website that you view and the order in which you view them.

I tink dat i spel goodly. As for tollbars and some other downloads, they may contain spyware or adware maybe worse. I am totally against spyware and the like. That is another subject. Just be careful downloading. I would prefer mispelled words- from anybody. I am fairly good at cryptology LOL. We seem to understand the messages. Nobody's perfect spelling. Seems like most are satisfied so far. My apologies if I make too many mistakes.

Skip - Google's Toolbar (may/may not) have the same privacy issues that Alexa has in that the URL's of the pages you visit will be sent to google. This is primarily used for the "Pagerank" feature (How else could they tell you the pagerank if they didn't know what page you were on...) but you'd be silly if you thought they didn't harvest that data for other purposes.
Here's the link...

And I'd be careful of google's stock altogether, sell rules screwed up or not. While they are sucking in the money left and right from their Adwords program that even businesses like pumpkinsupply.com and seedoutlet.com take part in, I have my suspicions they will turn in the direction of either other defunct search engines of the past or into a mush-mush hodge podge company like microsoft has become who can't resist having a finger in every market.

What keeps google shareholders from clicking google adwords at liesure to directly boost the profits of the company?
Not much although google can identify the most apparent click fraud. Eventually things like this will either force google to change the way it sells advertising, or marketers will eventually lose confidence in the service as they see their ROI go down the tubes when measured against other forms of online advertising. Already there is a tsunami of click fraud which occurs on a daily basis, often undetectable. Go ahead click your competitors ads and directly effect their advertising budget... In my opinion Only Fools Pay Per Click, Bigger Fools Pay per Impression... but that's a whole different story.

I have been using google's toolbar for a long time with no problems it is no spyware problem compared to everything else I clean off of clients computers. For a good spyware program try counterspy its been working excellent.

I have been using the Google Tool Bar for quite some time. It is a great pop up blocker, and has a lot of other functions. Too date, 2415 pop ups blocked. I love it.

moondog, I use counterspy. I believe that it is the best out there. That is why I use it. I am not saying that Google's toolbar is spyware, adware, etc. We use google as our starting homepage when we access the internet. Just that there are some programs that contain spyware (not Google toolbar) and I am always careful on what I download so that I can avoid spyware. In fact most of my research on line starts out with a search from google.
