At what rate do you apply the mollasis to the patch. Do you delute it down and spray it on? Just went to the feed store and was able to get some liquid mollasis . Also is it wise to use corn glutten meal? That was the only type of corn meal they had.

jay35,
Molasses can be applied 1 to 2 oz per gallon Foliar or up to 4 oz per 1000sq.ft. to the soil.
Corn Gluten meal, is a soil applied pre-emergent. It will stop weeds from germinating. There was a thread about CGM not too long ago. Dave McCallum provided this link. http:///www.gluten.iastate.edu/daily/html. The general consensus was that it does not affect pumpkins.

Corn meal is available from the Bulk Food Barn in Ontario by special order. It can be used at rates from 10 to 20 pounds per 1000 sq.ft. spring and fall. It will provide a small amout of nitrogen and aid in disease prevention from soil borne pythium

I am giving the gluten a try this year, along with Preen for pre-emerge control. Good reports about it from University of Iowa and Iowa State. So far it seems to be helping with weeds, although it has been cold and dry. Finally got rain last week but cold again. I will also be using it on a notill sweetcorn patch. Watch my diary for reports on the gluten trial.
