Well, I went and did it now. I got anxious to get my seedlings out of their pots before they got root bound. The problem is that I planted 2 of the 3 backwards! The first true leaf is opening opposite of the way I thought it would and I want the vine to go the other way. The plants are otherwise doing very good look healthy. Hopfully I can get them turned when they start to vine out. Any tips you all have would be greatly appreciated. Mike

The main vine can be turned 180°, but be patient! I've had to do it several times and it is real easy to get "greedy" and try to move it more than 1" a day. Move it only in the afternoon at the warmest part of the day. That is when the plant is most "pliable".

Make little stakes and use them to guide your vine in the direction needed. Start with an easy large curve, then as the days go buy decrease your radius. Do not rush it our you will hear the "CELERY CRUNCH". Followed by lots of profanities.

How many days have they been in the ground?
Less than 5 days, I'd think about digging & turning. This also depends on how big the plant is. How big is the 1st true leaf?

The plant is not real big as of yet, 1st leaf just emerging from stalk. It has been 8 days since emergence. They've been in the ground since saturday. I really dont want to dig it up and chance stressing it and tearing up roots, because these babys had filled a 10 inch rose pot with roots before even popping out the first leaf. I think I got em out just in time. I got pics of the plants in my diary. mike

Dig way around it and turn the whole over excavated crapperie, or start back ups.... If its been cool outside the plant wont even notice (if your carefull). Water it well with 15-30-15 after the "operation". It kinda depends on your patch lay out, if you have gobs of room to slowly train a vine leave it alone and follow my pal Stans advice.
