Just a small update: By now you may have forgoton this nobody in the middle of nowhere, but i haven't forgot you guys!
I know I am still new at pumpkin growing, and again I want to thank all the good people here.
And on a second note -- my pumpkin vine is now on the ground and I am burying it as i'm going, it is growing at a rate of about 4 inches long each day. Will it have a pumpkin? I hope so.
I have a total of 3 plants growing and one is a monster the other 2 are normal I guess but they look like runts next to the big one. I feed them all the same water and fertilizer, except the monster and I have been trying a small experiment - i aply a small amount of ------ every day. If I get a supe big one I will share my information but if somthing goes wrong I dont want others ruining theirs so I wont say right now.
Thanks again guys I'm a pumpkin person, and my main vine is now about 3 feet long and flowers are trying to grow.

just a hint - i dont know what others used to put their vine on the ground but i went to lowes and bought a shim pack for doors - the long wedges work great at holding the leaves from moving in the wind and the leaves dont seem to mind.
One other item - rabbits 0 humans 1

As for "one other item", Cozmo the cat had an "unmanly operation" on monday and seems to have calmed down quite a bit and doesn't seem to be as aggressive in hunting. Still chases them, just not as aggressive as he had in the past. Please don't tell the rabbits! LOL They have been staying away from the garden so far. Sure hope he gets back into the swing of things very soon.

I might say if you had the same operation you more than likely would be slowed down too. :)

LOL doc, I imagine I would be too. But the cat isn't too slow to get into the netting surrounding the lettuce. It is deer netting, it is suppose to keep the deer out. But it didn't say anything about cats.
