I have so much manure added this past 2 years that I can't find any soil in my garden except at one small corner. Is this bad? Should I till deeper or plant as usual this spring. Help appreciated.

if there is that much you might want toi consider renting one of those mini backhoes and turn the soil over from a foot or two down we did it a couple years back and eliminated our disease and hard pan problems which were directly caused by compacted manure below the soils surface its well worth it pap

another issue to consider will be drainage or lack of it. organic material such as manure retains alot of water, if you can i'd add some sand to it as well. Glenn

It would depend on what kind of manure you have. If it is horse, than it is ok. Squash and pumkins will grow right in a horse manure pile. I am not so sure about other kinds of manures....tho I do know my Mum grew prize winning squash on a pig manure pile. Where abouts are you located? I am between Fredericton and Woodstock in N.B. My pumkin growing patch is 100% decomposed manure piled on top of hard ground. I had a couple weighed over 400 pounds in 2003.
