is it true 90% of time main vine goes opposite direction of first true leaf ?? but if it is in ground and starts to go other way can it be coaxed down (not turned) the way you want it ?? i want to get in ground right away! & plants are back to back 5 ft apart <so its important to me to have direction & not turned!! ps my own experements show its not 90%!! ???

Im fighting one right now. Should be laying down any day. Im soaking the ground to make things loose and a little each day putting a little pressure on it with my thumb to push it the "right" direction. Then mound a litle soil against it to help hold it in th edirection I want it to go.

When you transplant, make sure you bury right up to the cots. This way the plant won't lean in a undesirable direction. Also, if necessary, I coax the vine with small sticks.

I'm six for six having the vine to come out opposite the direction of the first true leaf.

I tilt the seedling about thirty degrees so that the first true leaf is to some degree growing straight up while the vine comes out in a position to fall, to earth, with less movement.

Leading the plant with a 75 watt shop light can also be a tool. Plants will lean towards the light source.

The heat and light always works. I have not had a seedling that did not come out opposite from the dirrection of the first true leaf.
