This may be the year the 1500 pound mark is broken! What seed do you think will break this mark? My vote is on an 898x845 cross...perhaps the 1068 Wallace.

I would say something with a 898 cross. Not really sure which one. But there are several really good choices with the 898 cross

my guess is the 1097, 1180, 1104 or 1420.
but i also have a feeling that there could be a suprise with an already thoroughly proven seed, like the 723 or 845 bobier.

I'm guessing something as at least one of the following as a parent:
898 Knauss 1260 Weir 1097 Beachy

I'm growing the 905 Ailts myself this year. I'll be crossing it with the 1097.5 Beachy. Next year, I plan on growing the 582 Hester '01 that I have, and crossing it with the progeny of the 905x1097 cross.

I think it's going to be the 926 Hunt (1097.5 x 842)and it's going to happen in my patch. Well it does in my dreams. :o).

Owen, I Like that 753 Eaton Myself ;-), another 1500 pounder could be from a seed my ol-buddy Dick Wallace grew.

this just in
i would be a fool not to think our 845x898 from 03 ( 1068 ) or our 898x845 from o3 (500) or the sleeper 845x898 from 03 ( 961 ) -- which was never planted until this year that i know of should do very well this year based on the limited run they got last year
but i would not sell short the other seeds mentioned we could see several over the majic 1,500 lb goal ( so we can set a higher one for 06 )
in any event i want to wish all you pumpkinheads out there success and have a good time this summer, grown something you can be proud of and, keep it all in perspective

Well pap, I hope your right. I have started four different seeds with these crosses. 898 x 845 and 845 x 898 and I happy to say one of them is your 1068 from you pap.....

1082 Curry by Bruce Whittier. You heard it here first. LOL Any seed can grow 1500 pounds of pumpkin just like any grower can grow that many pounds of pumpkin. Good luck to everyone and remember, this could be your year..

The 1097.5 Beachy or 582 Hester crossed with a heavy, non-splitting gene; e.g. 898 Knauss. The 753 Eaton definitely has a lot of potential, as does the 1109 LaRue. Consider that the 753 Eaton was grown from the 1132 Eaton, a huge pumpkin in itself with awesome genes, and crossed with the 842 Eaton that grew the 1446 Eaton. Also, the 1109 LaRue was grown from a 1100 pounder, grew to be a 1100 pounder itself, and was crossed with male pollen from the 1104.5 Hester (another 1100 pounder) that grew the 1420.5 LaRue. Incidentally, I am planting both. I can only hope!
