I just finished temperature testing our patch soil.

Outside in full sun, tilled once a week ago:

62☺F at 1-2" dropping sharply to
55☻F at 3" & deeper.

Inside our greenhouse which has been in place for the past 18 months hand dug to 12" a week ago:

78¢¼F at 1-2"
75¢ÀF at 2-3"
70♦F at 3-4"
65¢¾F at 4-6"

I find the gradient thermocline to be the most interesting discovery.

Worth noting is that the daytime high in the greenhouse was limited to 95*F for the past 2 weeks though today I shut the ventilator down & the temp soared to 120F or 48C.

The heaters have kept the night time low above 50*F these past 3 weeks.

Pretty cool.

Quite a differencw..I can tell ya even with the sun we've had the last ten days the low nite temps have kept the soilvery cold below the three inch line something to be said about getting the hoops up two weeks early.
