I met a guy on vacation earlier this year. He was wearing a pumpkin contest shirt and I asked him about it. He was so enthusiastic about growing pumpkins, I thought I would look into it. Since that time, I have spoken to a few of my friends and we are all (about six of us) interested in trying to grow pumpkins this year. We live just outside of Chicago. Any ideas on how to get the best seeds for our area? David Dabertin at [email protected]

David........quick while you have a chance get away from these gang members who talk pumpkin. It is a big hoax. Only fools would dream of a two thousand pound pumpkin.
More than likely they are all a little different. :)
So please, if you get hooked, do not say you werenn't warned.
Have you gotten enough seed yet? Warning, that's how they inch new growers into the fold. If not... just ask here. There are more than a few who work together to get good seed into the hands of new growers. Tricky bunch they are.

David, Yes that was me! If I'm not mistaken I offered you some seeds that day at the lunch buffet. (In Jamaica) You declined because you were hesitant on going thru customs with them. Lord knows only a crazed Giant Pumpkin grower would bring giant pumpkin seeds on his vacation to Jamaica. That's just what happens when you become addicted, you take seeds with you almost everywhere you go....LOL, You never know when you'll hook a new grower! e-mail me your address and I'll send you some top notch crosses. Jim
