What I would like to know is who has used them, how it worked, and some advice on where to get one for cheap?
Thanks Ryan

I have one but am not overly thrilled with it. As far as getting rid of individual weeds goes, it is a very slow way to weed. It is good however for burning up dead, dried, and unwanted brush. It is also kind of fun to run around with a torch burning up things...but as a solution to getting rid of living weeds I don't think it is the answer.

I use one when the plants aren't taking up the majority of the patch, seems to do a good job. Certainly faster than with a hoe, or by hand....no disturbing the soil with it.

The one shaped like a cane is good in among the vines , uses a propane torch bottle

prevention is the best cure. I guickly rake the soil between the vines once a week and that takes care of most of the weeds before they become a problem.

I have a hot steam weeder from Fiskars. Works much better compared to the torch burner I frequently borrowed from my parents. Hot steam really kills the plants down to the roots, not like burning them on top. Hot steam causes a complete and effective cell disruption inside the weeds.
However Mike is right. Rake them the first day you see them and forget about :)

i have the best weeder on the market
absolutely gets all the weeds and prevents spreading also improve the airation in and around the plants
its called hands and knees weeding
if you wait until the weeds are six inches tall they pull out very easy and never come back
works better than any rake, spray or blow torch

The flame weeder is one of many tools I use to control weeds. It really works well during the month of May and into June after that put it away. Buy the best hoe, the Wolf Garten with the crumbler attachment with a 6ft aluminum handle. Those combined with the hand and knees weeding will get you through. Try to do a little weeding every day it and it won't get away from you. Carry the hoe with you every time you visit the patch.

Wolf Garten tools are very nice. We carry quite a few of their items but I still haven't seen their hoe. If the rest of the line is any indication they must be good.
I would never even consider giving up my scuffle hoe for early season weeding. Later in the season I'm with Pap. Hand weeding becomes the only way once roots fill the patch.
