I kept a 400lbs AG for the winter on the front stoop. I cracked her open Feb 15th. I then pulled what seeds I wanted from her and put them on news paper in a room that stays 70+ and dry. Seeds stayed in that room until March 25, thats 40+ days. I put what I thought were dryed seeds in a Zip Lock bag. I went to give some seeds to a friend and noticed that many of them had mold on them. Questions: How long does it take to dry seeds? Plus, what is the best way to store seeds? How does one know if the seeds are dry? Can I still use seeds with mold on them?

I did the same thing. I put seeds in a zip lock bag too and they developed a mold on them. I took half of them out and put them in the sink with luke warm water and aa small drip of soap. I don't know if this was right to do or not but I did it anyway. I soaked the seeds till the mold was off. Next I put the seeds spaced out on paper towel. After a few layers I left them there to dry up. When they were dry I took a couple out and tested for germination. It was a success they germinated within 2-4 days. I just left the seeds wrapped up in the paper towel and there is no mold. I don't know if this is a safe method for the seeds but its an idea.

I've never tried it, but soaking in dilute hydrogen peroxide is supposed to work all right. Also, I've tried the advanced seed starting method on moldy seeds and it worked all right.

I use the "window screen + fan" method, usually take 7-10 days the dry them totally.
