Ok so what is a dill ring on a pumpkin?

it's a sag line that runs perpendicular to the ribs. usually there's an internal crack that follows that line, creating weak points in the fruit. here's a good example:

The 582 Hester for a example produces a good many pumpkins with a dill ring.
