hey folks...now that I have my nutrient pit dug I need some advice on what to fill it with. The only thing I have on hand is some horse manure, a little potting soil, straw and some leaves.
Thanks, Jake

Fully composted manures, compost, very light application of remineralization items like Ironite, Azomite or Greensand. If you feel you need fertilization consider a very light application of an organic 4-2-4 or even smaller numbers.
One pound of corn meal here in the nusery with the remainder scattered throughout the patch.
Drench in a pint of black strap molasses, an ounce or so of fish and kelp.
Then step back and watch the best spot in the patch you have ever created go to work.
