At the Niagara Meeting it was announced that there will be no cash prizes from the GPC this year for anything but pumpkins and squash. This was a disappointment to me as I had planned on running off with the tomato money. I don't think the cash awards for tomatoes, cantaloupes, long gourds etc should have been discontinued as there are members who grow and compete in these categories. Anyone agree or disagree?

Will there be plaques/trophies/ribbons or the like instead?
I'm planning on giving you some tomato competition, probably long gourd and watermelon also. The money is nice, even if it is just a little, but i'd rather have something to hang on the wall.

Marv,
I may make a "Collins Long Gourd" award announcement in the near future. This will most likely be for a new World Record for any grower who gets his long gourd seed from me. I haven't worked out all the details yet but they will be announced from my site, perhaps in a broadcast email to all customers. www.bigseeds.com I may do something for Tomato as well! Ray Waterman

Andy: If I win the tomato competition I'll give you something you can hang on your wall, a picture of me and my tomato. Marv
