I've been going to the seminar for a about 5 years now and every year it gets better. The only thing I didn't like that the canadain dollar was stronger than it has ever been lol. You know A few months ago I felt money was ruining our sport but after talking with the a bunch of growers at the seminar, There is no way in hell that money could ruin our sport with the growers that are involved with the sport right now, Even the growers that spent alot of money at the auction (Eddy) Hell he gave half the seeds away you could truely see that he was just supporting the seminar. Personally I have never come across such a bunch of fun loving people in my 41 years of life, It was fun and I wouldn't pass it up for the world, Thanks to the pumpkinfest group and Dave for working so hard..I'll be back next year for sure...Mark

Thanks Mark and Dave, and I also had a great time. The presentations are not as important to me as the one on one's. Talking with Tremors until 3:00 A.M. about soils was worth the trip by itself.
I talked with Craig Lembke for probably 45 minutes and it basically refreshed everything in the literature he sent me, but it was as good as spending the time with Tremors.
They call it networking.
Spending 3 hours with the Dills, heading back to the airport and waiting for the plane was priceless.
Putting faces to the names, to me is awsome. In my opinion it's the best way to start great friendships.
3 years ago I attended for the first time and met fellow growers, this year I went to meet friends, and that's all the reason I will ever need to attend.
(we can talk about Drew in a different post)

As the new member of the Pumpkinfest Team I have to say that I had a great time at the seminar. It was great to put faces to all the growers I talked to on the phone leading up to the event. You are all a Fantastic group of people! Once I am a little more organzied at my office I will post some suggestions that I was told by some of you through out the seminar. Thank you to everyone who is emailing their suggestions to us at the office. Take care everyone and it was Great meeting all of you!

I definitely learned not to sit with Tremor and Ice-man....by the way Eddy that was 3:30....LOL..and I too was a recipient of Eddy's generosity! Thanks Eddy!...I guess I feel the same way as Eddy and Mark...I too now go to meet good friends and meet new ones...Dave and the whole crew do one heck of a job for everyone...It's probably one of the only times where I can sit and talk pumpkins for three days without someone looking at me like I'm nuts...The one on one discussions are extremely helpful and I don't think I ever met more people willing to give there best input for what I'm sure some of those heavy hitters thought were mundane questions...Thanks everyone for a great time and all of your generosity in sharing. Now you all go out and Grow em Big! I'll be back!

Eddy & Chuck I only hope we can do it again next year! This time with new PBs in the rear view mirrors. You guys are the best....just like everyone else I hung with.

Eddy's generosity is matched only by his personality.

Dinner with Jack Larue, Jim Sherwood et al.

45 growers walking out of the Casino Buffet was priceless.

Big Dave actually didn't beat anyone up.

Rooming with Dave & Alan in between the Prime Minister & Presidential Suites.

$1.50 for a dollop of gravy on a $6 sandwich at the Flying Saucer during a black-out with Quinn & Matt Werner.

$7 for wine to go with a $6 sandwich,...$50 for a salad with Iced Tea...LOL

Folks....these are the things no one can ever take away from us. Seeds can be faked or lost, plants can die, fruit can split.....

All of our money can disappear, the car can break, the house can burn, your Dog can die......

But these memories & friendships endure even after our breath is gone. Thanks to you all for sharing your memories (and seeds) with me.

Dick Wallace said it better than anyone....."BAD PEOPLE DON'T GROW GIANT PUMPKINS."

God Bless & Best Growing Wishes in 2005 to you all!

I learned alot just listening to the other growers share what worked for them and what they were going to do differently this year. What I learned was priceless info, because its the little things that you dont find out in an email or reading a book that may get you those few extra pounds.
