Can someone who is knowledgeable with Merit granular systemic insecticide tell me if this stuff would do anything to a gopher if the merit is applied to the soil where one lives? Would it be harmless or deadly to mr gopher? I'm using the .5% granular. Thanks Jimmy

I don't have the knowledge, although I would certainly think that if it were safe for humans it would be safe for gophers, but the question that's burning inside my head is whether you're Wanting the merit to kill the gopher or not.

Will Merit harm earthworms? I've been wondering that too.

I was wondering if it would kill or irritate gophers as a positive side affect:) I have them and will be using other methods to get rid of them, but wondered if Merit might do the same thing since it is a poison and it goes directly into the dirt they are in. Jimmy

What do gophers eat? If they eat grubs like moles do, then it would cause them to leave the area it was applied on because all of its food would be dead.

Gophers eat vegetation, moles eat bugs. The best way to get rid of gophers is to introduce moles-they dont get along. Then you have to try to get rid of the moles! hahaha
Theres the spring traps, but I'm too much of a sissy to kill. I have heard of a fox scented powder that repels gophers?? Who know if that works.
I'm picturing Jimmy with explosives strapped across his chest and a giant gopher dancing on a pumpkin....

Dave, You are funny my friend hehehe. Normally I'm a real passive, kind, loving man, wouldn't hurt a fly. But if anything tries to eat my pumpkin plant, including gophers, all bets are off, including using my gun! hehehe Gophers eat plants and plant roots unfortunately, very damaging suckers. Thanks for the replies everyone. Jimmy
