The Golden Gopher

Hoffman, Minnesota

I have been growing Atlantic Giant pumpkins for the past three years. I have been using seed purchased from a regional garden seed catalog company and last year my biggest pumkin weighed 190 pounds.
I am wondering if my purchasing of this generic seed is hindering my efforts to raise large pumpkins, and if so, where would you suggest I purchase my seed for this year.

Thanks,
The Golden Gopher

I gave store bought a shot last year, and regretted it. I haven't seen anyone grow store bought seed over 200lbs. 190lbs is doing pretty well.

Last year was my first year growing AG's. I grew 3 plants from store bought seeds. The biggest one was 228.5 lbs! I also grew 3 plants from competitive seeds. I grew 721.5,447 and 394.5. There are lots of great seeds out there just for the cost of postage.

Oh My God Guys,Growing pumpkins and Big Pumpkins.com is all about learning and about pumpkins. Plus it suppose to be family orienated. Some guy gets on here and wants some help in getting a few seeds. Heck, about every grower out there has about 500-600 seeds like I do. So why isn't there many more nice guys out there who can give some nice guy a chance and just give him some dam seeds. Starner Farmer, send me a e-mail with your home address and i'll set you up with some nice seeds. I have hundreds of good quality seeds.
