Have heavy hitter seeds gone up in value?
since say,W.P.C,?
Anybody done a price chart?
And now that Mr.dill's patent is up,,
what effect has it had on,
the short term "mongo seed,index"?.

Based on the fact that people are spending $250-$500 for top shelf, proven seeds at auction it is pretty obvious that these seeds have become quite valuable. I don't think there is any particular point in time which this has occurred, but as more people get into growing big pumpkins and they desire to have the best odds of growing the largest pumpkin possible, it appears that these top shelf seeds will only increase in value. It is simple supply and demand.

Dill's seed protection was up last year one can sell seed from there atlantic giant pumpkins but can't call them dills atlantic giants because the name has been trade marked.. If you have lots of money and have the fever I guess its okay to spend 100's of dollaron seeds. Great seeds with genetics are still out there for the asking and postage that could produce a world record. The thing that gets me to many new growers have the jack and the bean stalk menality. They think just because they have 845 or 842 lets say that they will produce a big pumpkin with out proper investment in soil and growing skills one can have the best seed in the world and only get a 300lber.. so spend your money wisely but if you have it and money is no object have at it.... mark

Another thing to do is build up a list of addresses of growers that the best seeds usually come from and send them bubble packs every year. This way if a seed gets proven next year chances are you already have it, maybe even two of it. AleX Noel.

hmmmm, meaning to NOT do what he says?
attention y'all, to what is being said.
most of us, especially me, do NOT know what it's like to be inundated (overwhelmed) with seed requests.

i myself like to get an email from someone who has done some RESEARCH or asking around to get my email, address, etc., and has a genuine interest in my seeds because they INTEND to plant a couple. so, i see it from both sides here.
i myself have also the idea to ask for a grower's seeds, usually by extending my own offer of my OWN seeds every year
and then i get some of their fine seeds in return, usually, but not always, in far lesser amounts, but that is fine with me.......i am a hybrid, thru and thru, lol...i know it is difficult for a new grower..........eric
