I have found locally a Bayer product for trees and shrubs with 1.47% Imidacloprid and am not sure if this will work like the product Admire which I can't find here in VT. It is in a liquid form and can be sprayed on the patch. I know admire is 21%. Can I just use the equivalent of this product to control SVBs. Thanks for your help. John

depends on what is in it otherwise that makes it only for trees and shrubs---like, you wouldn't use a screwdriver to
get an eyelash out of your eye; you'd use your finger!
but, if a screwdriver would work without damaging anything,
i don't SEE why not. maybe throw down a product name or
specifications, inert ingredients, etc........eric

John, I was also looking at Bayer's Tree and Shrub spray wondering if anyone had used it with success.
I believe (just guessing) the reason vegetables are not listed as one of the uses for this spray is that it is a systemic poison that would make vegetables unfit for consumption. I wouldn't want to eat something sprayed with this stuff on it!
Maybe Steve (Tremor) could enlighten us on this spray.

The Imidacloprid is the same in several products. There is a good post here that shows what strength to use with the various products. For T&S it seems that 5.5 to 8 oz per 1000 works best. The other ingredients are surfactants and other things that should have no impact.

None of the "other" ingredients should be an issue. I think it is unlisted as it is a T&S formula. Admire has the same active ingredient and you can use it on just about any vegetable per read of the label, beans, tomato, squash, carrots, cucumbers, etc.
