I live in Central Cal. Last threat of frost is middle March. Would you suggest I start germ the 1st of march then plant 1st of April?

don't germinate those seeds any earlier than one week before planting outside...

Only for a really early weighoff... but for the regular weighoff season I'd think you'd be better starting late-April or early May.

Oh, yes, I didn't catch that... pumpkins are not like tomatoes. You can't keep them indoors for more than a week. I like to get them out as soon as the first "true" leaf starts to appear.

I our area Mid April to first week in May seems work best Depends on when you want to harvest.
