Okay, I found him. Jim Martin is from Hayward California, and used to be in the 80's band Faith No More. In 2003, he grew a 1064 pounder and also threw in a 903.5 for good measure. Is this the current California record?
I can finally get this metal head to either stop asking me questions about Jim, or he will start growing pumpkins. lol

The California state record is 1105 and is held by Greg Stucker of Napa.

remember the flopping fish at the end of that video in the late 80s. "you wanted out but you can't have it"
