RE: Post by Mike Turner and Big Zac tomato seed available from "Exhibition Seeds" in the UK (owned and operated by Mr. Keith Foster) Just for everyone's information, we were surprised Exhibition Seeds were still in business, as back in November 2003, we supplied Mr. Foster with an order of 600 lb. plus "Dill's Atlantic Giant" pumpkin seed. Unfortunately, to this day, we have never received payment for this seed and if you go to their web site you will see a photo of Howard Dill with an Atlantic Giant which was taken from our web site but fails to list and correctly describe as such. Only as "Pumpkins Large 600-800 lb." strain. In essence, upon agreement, he ordered one thing, which we supplied but does not respectfully offer as such, violating seed labelling laws. I know in the US and Canada with seed labelling laws and acts, it is a Federal offense to buy a specific variety of seed and then turn around and call it something else, re-naming, etc. I assume this would apply as well in Europe? As well, we have been informed recently of some 'dubious' seed trading taking place among growers, so all I can say is to be very careful and try to stay with growers and organizations you trust and know. It's usually not our practice to use BP.com to post notices involving seed business but felt this was maybe necessary for newer growers. Danny Dill

Firstly, i want to make the following points VERY VERY clear. 1. I posted the Message about the availability of Big Zac Tomato Seeds, from Exhibition Seeds, in response to postings from people stating that the Seeds were no longer available from several regular suppliers of the Seeds or that they were finding difficulty in obtaining them.
2. I posted said Message in good faith to hopefully HELP people who were looking for Big Zac Seeds and i was not aware of the dealings that the Dill's have had with the proprietor of Exhibition Seeds.
3. I am not employed by, nor do i have any connection with Exhibition Seeds other than purchasing Big Zac Tomato and Ailsae Onion Seeds from them. I made contact with the Proprietor of the Company to ask permission to inform Growers that they had Big Zac Tomato Seeds in stock if they were looking for them.
4. I have not been approached by the proprietor of Exhibition Seeds to promote either the Company or any of the items that they sell.
5. I am not receiving any goods or products from Exhibition Seeds as a gratuity for mentioning their name as a Supplier of Big Zac Seeds.
6. The next time i make any attempt to TRY and HELP people obtain anything from anywhere i will not bother to make it public knowlege on a website where the information may be of some value or HELP, namely this Website.

Mike, I also appreciate your helping. As far as I can see the link between the pumpkin seeds and your post is weak. The only conclusion that can be brought to light from Danny's post is the fact that it may question their credibility.
I wouldn't take offense to what Danny said. I dont think it was directed at you. If it was directed at you, it would be uncalled for and should be laughed off.

Danny, I'd worry about getting reimbursed for the seeds you sent him and getting properly compensated for the illegal use of your content. The combination of the two would make my stomach turn for sure.
God knows I've been wrongly threatened with legal action several times already with my months old website giantvegenetics.com, including by the designer of your site Duncan Mcalpin, so it would be nice to see someone who was actually stealing content for their business to be put in their rightful place.
I'll be removing all links from my site to exhibition seeds until I hear something that might convince me otherwise. I'm glad I held back from making an order with them a few weeks ago in light of this information. I certainly wouldn't like to contribute to these dubious profits.

Mike, Though it may not be the case, when people take part in refferal programs, however informal they may be, there is generally something given back to the refferer. Otherwise it would be pointless to even mention that you sent them. Perhaps the intent on your part was to enlighten them to the potential market here at BP.com for future advertising purposes or something and not to recieve personal gain.
The outward appearance looks not so nice, but since none of us were in on your conversations with them it's all speculation. I'm willing to take your word that you weren't recieving anything, sounds reasonable to me.

Jason The conversation i had with the Proprietor of Exhibition Seeds lasted about 1.5 minutes. I did not even mention this website by name, and i have no idea what a refferal program is. All i wanted to do was to very innocently allow people who were looking for Big Zac seeds to obtain them from a sourse that had some. I have no intention to gain anything in the way of payment or goods for mentioning the company and the order that i did place with them was my first and and it was paid for.
Had i known about the history between the Dills and Exhibition seeds i would not have placed an order for seeds from them. I guess that by innocently trying to do the right thing by helping others i am now receiving public bashings on this Website. Heck, if one cannot do something to help others without being accused of making personal gain then i think it is about time for me to quit coming to this Website.
Jason, thankyou for taking my word and it is appreciated to know that.
Regards Mike

Mike, I knew that you were just responding to another post saying that all Big Ugly Zacs were sold out. I think the confusion came from people that didn't happen to read those posts earlier.

There is no free lunch. If they ordered something from the Dill's or anyone else they are obligated to pay. If there is a financial problem, they should contact the people they owe money to and explain it.

Keith Foster of Exhibition Seeds has contacted us and matters will be resolved. Regarding Big Zac tomato seed, we're not in the tomato seed trade and have no comment. Now, I would like to apologize to Mike Turner. My post was not intended for or about Mike Turner, only regarding Exhibition Seeds. We know and respect Mike and realize he was only trying to be helpful to growers and that he has no business or affiliation with Exhibition Seeds. Danny Dill
