I have three pumpkins on different main vines that total over 1000lbs. I would like to get one for Sept. 22 over 500lbs. Lulu is now 421 est. lbs but all are starting to turn orange and growth is really slowing despite rain, watering and ferilizing. I'm wondering if its just to much for the plant, and would culling one now make much difference? My goal is to also have one for a weighoff 500lbs or better. These were all pollinated around July 1-4
Thanks everybody

HI AMY,

In the book there is a picture showing a Plant with four Primary vines and four pumpkins, The largest was 733 lbs.
The average weight was 600 lbs. Some place in the book it tells how much fertizler he used. I don't remember that exact amount but it was alot. I am sure someone will come up with all the facts

Keep trying John = Water

Jeez, I wish I was having this problem! ;-)
Wow, that is quite a decision. Well, I am no expert, but here is my input.
1) Are you in the Northeast USA? We've had no sun of late and I think this has slowed things down a bit. If so I'd leave all three and pray for sunshine. With some sun in August I'd think that 421 would have a shot at 500.
2)I'm pretty conservative and like to leave pumpkins on the vine in case of disaster. (which is all I have had this year) If it were my plant (ah, in my dreams) I'd leave them on.

May your choice be fruitful!
