Despite the ban on opinions we can all guess how much this auction will end at.

I'm guessing $1750...

I'll skip any commentary and make a guess.

If your not growing them why not just give them away? (Just something I remember you saying awhile back.)

Hmmmm....I noticed a couple of seed that were very *recently* given to you after you specifically asked for them....as I've been told. Why not just return those to the recent giver(s)? Intentions could certainly be misconstrued otherwise.....just my humble 2 cents.
(PS....and I'll comment as I see fit)

I wouldnt sell the seeds that somone gave me, I treasure things like that! however if someone came up with say $10,000,000 that would open a nice discussion, lol

I can't say exactly and perhaps I should just mind my own business, but didn't Ernie have a fire or a flood or something in his home a while back?

I believe it was a fire at his work, then a flood and storm at home. 2004 was not a great year for Ernie.

I feel I must respond about my decision to sell my seed collection.

I have emailed a good grower friend and explained in detail the reason's why I am doing this, I won't go into that detail here. But explain that because of severe health problems that started two months ago and the cost that comes with it (meds, bills, etc.)I have no other choice but to try and reduce the finacial strain Trina and I continue to be under. By not only from the sale of my cherished seed collection but some other items like our second vehicle, etc.

I appreciate every ones views and the seeds given and traded to myself but feel they can be best used right now by us in another way. I have not come to this decision easily and Trina knows the very difficult choice I made and that I am trying in some way to help take care of her and our two children.

A few seeds have been kept back in case I can grow this year or hopefully next year. I hope and pray while you may not agree with my decision that you understand at least the very difficult choice I made.

Please do not suggest or offer help, if you would like the seed collection please bid, it would be greatly and sincerely appreciated.

Sincerely,
Ernie Pearce

Yes 2004 was the worst year, my father passed away and the sewage back-up we got was the fourth in six years. I believe some in other area's of Canada seen the news story about it as it came from the pork plant up the hill.

This is the main reason our savings were wiped out as insurance only payed roughly 75%. Some thing with depreciation.

It seemed like every five months that is why the wife is dreading April.

You guys should get off Ernie's back. I am certain that Ernie made his decision with a lot of thought. In this world you have to do what you have to do. And Ernie is doing just that. Have any of you seen the movie "Hard Times?"

Ernie,

I pray that your health and your family finances will greatly improve in the near future. There is nothing worse than losing your health, for sickness steals almost everything we have and those who have never lost it, can never fully understand how difficult it is. God Bless you. Jimmy

Tom:

The seeds were raffled off and the money along with some of mine and Eddy's went to incorporate the association and pay for hosting fees for the website. This year we discussed the fate of the association and because very few members and the distance between us it was decided the association for now be dropped.

Thanks Ernie.

Actually that was discussed last fall on the fate of the association, sorry for the error.

Let me clear up some misconceptions, the sale of my seed
collection is NOT to take my wife on a CRUISE or should I say is NOT now the case. I understand some may be confused.

I was very ill in December and hopefully continue to recover, shortly after my release from hospital I began selling things on ebay to give my wife a dream Cruise she always wanted because it was a promise to her when in the
hospital to take her should I, or rather if I would be able to take her, enough said on that.

The reason for selling unwanted items on ebay was because the sewage damage we got to the house last summer depleted a lot of our savings. But now due to being off work for an extended period it has wiped all of that out and caused financial strain, the cruise is now totally out of the question. If I wanted to sell my seed collection to take her on the cruise I would have offered it up for sale a while ago. I would never sell my seed collection
unless I absolutely had no other choice, the decision to do this was a very difficult one.

I'll also say Trina was under considerable strain in Dec. I wanted to give her something to hold on to if you will. I tried to follow through with that promise but did not plan on the circumstances we now find our self in.

I Don't know you, but I hope nothing but the best for you and your family! I'm not stirring the pot...I was a little confused after reading it.
But who am i to judge or make assumptions?
Sorry!
I just thought mabey it should come out in the open before everyone else read it and jumped to conclusions as I did.

Best of luck

They are your seeds Ernie. Do with them what you want! I've known you for several years on this site and know you are up-right. Don't let a few negative comments get you down. You have my respect and support. Good luck with getting it all back together again.
