Hi, can anyone tell me where I can find this Captan? I have looked everywhere, especially a farm & home supply store and noone carries it. I'm in California. Is there a place to purchase it on the net? My second question is, can someone tell me how to figure out the weight of my pumpkin. I measured a circumference of 60". Thanks for any replies

Check out the article on How to Measure in the How-To section.
(I forgot to put the link there until just a minute ago)

The place I get Captan would not ship it. I had to go pick it up (I live in CT). Your best bet is to find an experienced grower near you and ask where they get it. Be sure and go to a couple of weigh-offs this fall and make lots of new friends.

I found Don Langvin's OTT measurement & weight charts on the internet at www.giantpumpkin.com. The site contains excerpts from 'How to Grow World Class Pumpkins', click on "Estimating Weight" and you will get a nice diagram on how to measure the pumpkin AND the tables to convert inches to pounds.
