I know us southern growers aren't as populated as the guys and gals up north, but that's ok:) If you are a grower that grows in warmer or hot conditions, what seed has grown the best for you in your heat? I thought it would be a great idea to have a list of the best warm weathered seeds people have had good success with. I'll start with the 950 boyton. In San Diego, it thrives even in 110 degree heat with no mist or shade!

Right now, Boily has the Holland 919 rolling along pretty good! That's really strange as it it from the Pacific Northwest.

I would say 846 or it's remakes do well. I set the state record, 638 lber, here on the 237 Beachy. I had good luck with the 1026 Holland last year. It was a great plant. I had the 695 Handy going but I lost it due to getting diseases, Parts of the 695 that was not under shade done very well. I made the 1026 X 695 cross. The 237 was crossed with the 1026. Our 229.5*, which was off the 821 Garrell(845 sib), is a beast in the heat. That along with other saying they done good with the 845 genes shows it can do well in hot climates.

Duster,
I have talked to others that have said the 991 Hunt 99 does well in the heat. I happen to have a few 369 Houser 02 (991 X self). Unfortunately it is hearing 2nd hand about this. hopefully someone else can speak up as I too would love to hear more about heat seeds.

Our 810 Dill grew very well in 100+ degree heat and never flagged, had small leaves and dark green vines grew a 644 for us in less than perfect soil. May be a tad hard to find one though...

Any of the seeds I have grown from my own pumpkins. And yes, that is a hint, BF

The 991 Hunt hasn't made any big fruit from what I've seen on the aggc.
