Finally got a set on the 845 Bobier but at 36 foot out! Any experience of big fruit set that far out? The plant is in a flag pattern with the main terminated at 48 foot. Plant is very healthy and would cover 600 sqft. Fruit measures 44" circ on day 14, white and perfectly round, long stem....Ben

You should be fine! It will also test the "food factory" theory that basically states that plant much further out from the pumpkin isn't productive for the fruit. Although I disagree with this theory, I don't believe that much plant before the pumpkin will effect the growth either.. As long as your plant is healthy and not too small your pumpkin should grow too.Keep it going it should produce a nice one! Good Luck, Don

Ben....Perhaps you might consider a "priming pump" about half-way to the pumpkin. ;>)

One heck of a walk from the stump to the pumpkin there Ben! I hope she grows well for you and that you can make a controled pollination on her. Michel

36 ft out! More cushion for the pushin' as far as I am concerned. That beast will take off!

If I am not mistaken Steve Daletas's 1385 world record was 23 ft. out.

If the plant is too big before the pumpkin Ben you should think of maybe spraying half of it with round-up or diesel or something...LOL!

Really starting to take off now! The 845 loves the heat, not even wilting at 105F. Put on 6" circ overnight, looks like it will grow big indeed! Sidevine fruit opened up a massive stem split yesterday, not into the cavity, but right through the whole stem! Hope thats not what the main vine fruit will do....
More cushin for the pushin'.....LOL, I've heard that somewhere before.....

Tom, its had some sort of problem since the beginning, Leaves mottled, then progressively go yellow then die.... Pumpkin is creeping along about 10 pounds a day somewhere around 200 pounds. 1301.5 x 845, also has a side viner crossed with the 805. Nice genetics that will probably never be grown.....
The 845 went well through the heat wave and put on 8.5" circ in the day, or 18 pounds. Not bad at all for such a young fruit! From 48.5" on day 15 to 57" on day 16! Hopefully it will start gaining 30 a day after day 20, reserve the right to get excited about it till then!
