First time grower is having a load of compost blend (aged)delivered soon. I will be raising my growing area 2 feet.

Should I work the blend in with the current soil or just dump the blend and go from there? The two feet of blend being delivered is quite capable and will be much better than my current soil.

Is a two foot raise too much?

Jerry Rose raise his growing area over two feet, I believe.
However, I do not think that he use straight compost. Lincoln Mettler had a problem growing in straight compost in 2003.
I have concluded that you have a relatively small growing area or a very thick wallet. Jerry Rose got his soil for "free". Lincoln got his for "free" as well.

Both Stan! (Wink, Wink). It's a 70/30 soil/compost blend. My decision to try a giant is a bit late to amend my current soil so I'm stepping out. This strategy has to be better than an attempt with my current soil. If not, I should be in decent shape for '06. Approx 375 sq ft and I will have to pay for mine......

The delivery bill will far exceed the cost of the blend...go figure.....

Go Nesbitt!

I would take a sample and have it analyzed of that stuff you want to put on the patch before spreading it.
At any rate and whatever you do it will be at least a year
after you spread this stuff until you can get an accurate
sample of your actual entire patch soil.

Wish I was in your shoes...
