As some of you may know, Tom (Bohica) and I have entered into a contest of sorts. He is a second year grower, and I am a newb, with not a single season under my belt. Never-the-less, he chose to pick on poor, little me to promote his growing prowess! Can you imagine? I'm just a quiet guy, minding my own business, and suddenly BAM! I'm in the middle of some contest (of which I had nothing to do), fighting for my life! (Well, fighting for a case of beer, anyway) Well, I'm not going to take this lying down! I intend to fight with all I have. TOM IS GOING DOWN!!! Here is my seed list for this spring:

216 Jepson ’04 842 x Self
#02 Little Cross ’04 572 Andrews x 1260 Weir
658 Lovelace ’04 307 Little ’03 x Self
710 Gipe 1097 Cilibretto x 1061 Cilibretto
905 Ailts'04 898 Knauss x 1260 Weir
721.5 Vincent 1458 Whittier 03 x 1172 Greer 02

This list is no particular order, since all seeds will receive the same care and devoted attention. Granted, these are, for the most part, unproven seeds. Also given is the fact that Tom is in cahoots with the "juice" master, Craig Lembke, but so be it! I shall fight the good fight!! And triumphant shall I be!! (still wish I knew what that juice was tho!) But I have a juice of my own! And may the best grower win!

Good Luck Tom!

Your gonna need it!

Monty

ps...if anybody can give me any tips on growing their seeds I would sure appreciate it!

Now,
After Montys meds kick in, those of you that were there know that Monty will have a hard time growing on his out patient visits from the mental ward, it is nice that they allow them to garden... don't tell him that they actually put stems on basketballs and put them in a field to make him feel like he actually grew something...lol
I almost feel bad taking that case of beer from him....

Think of your happy place Monty.....Think of your Happy Place...

Remember Monty, there is still time to back out.....shhhhhhhh... I won't tell anyone....hehehehe

Thanks for the help Brooks. I know Tom has it together, but I'm no slouch at gardening. It's going to be my compost against his Agro-K. We'll be hoisting some cold ones at Tom's expense this fall...lol

I will say this, because of this little contest, I am striving to learn even more and planning to work even harder than I probably would have. Funny how a little competition can motivate a person.

By the way, Tom, I heard in chat last night that you already conceeded the match...ask G and Sam, they were there...lol

Thanks for the offer of assistance Joze. I will probably have a few questions for you over time.

As an update, I pick up the manure truck tomorrow. By spring I should have 6-50 foot compost windrows decomposing nicely. The windrows will be laid out along the path of the main vines, so the leach nutrients will penetrate the soil deeper. Each plant will have a little more than 400 square feet. A few weeks before planting time I will spread the windrows over the entire patch, and till. Each windrow will be about 4 feet wide and 3 feet high. I believe the deep leaching will provide a great nutrient source for the entire main. I'll begin posting pics in my diary over the weekend.

The unfortunate thing is, Tom now has both the "juice" from Craig Lembke and the help of Jerry Rose. I say unfortunate, because I like Tom, and neither of those guys will ever help him again after I beat him.

The time for talkin's over...I'm grabbing my meds and goin' to work.

Cool Jerry, thanks!
I am a more mellow type of guy, I just want to do my best and try to grow a decent size pumpkin, if i can do that and in the mean time out grow Monty......it will be rewarding....lol
I will accept any and all advice that is given.
Thanks.

I wish you both a 1500 pound pumpkin.....of corse i will get a 1550 pound pumpkin....and Jerry will be the first person with a 1600 pound pumpkin LOL.

But seriously....none of us will get a 1500 pound pumpkin and Jerry will be the first person with a 1600 pound pumpkin LOL.

I grew a 700+ pumpkin my first year and i herd someone else grew a 800+ pumpkin. So both of you guys have equal chance of growing something big. I wish all you guys a great upcoming growing season.

Monty or Tom mmmm who do I choose to back. Tom always tell me he has mine, and I am not afraid to stand up to him. But Monty , he is a real hoot also. This is a dilema. Monty you are right about why some jackass has to butt in on some fun banter. Tom you are also right , if someone has something that is of some importance to say, they would do so with their own name. So JJ please go away and let us play in peace. Cary( Green Angel).

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but at the end of the season, one of you will buy a case, and in all likelihood, both of you will drink from it. So the two of you will share (some) knowledge over the season, you both will have a reason to spend a little more time in the patch, you'll both have a great time doing it, and at the end of the season you will both relax and get drunk reminiscing about the past months. Sounds like a perfect season, regardless of final weights and who comes out on top.

Well, NSTransplant, I would love to share my winnings with Tom, but he lives in NY and I'm in WV. Of course, after the weigh-offs, and I am declared the winner, Tom will probably be in such awe that he will volunteer to till my patch for me. So it might all work out in the end. :)
