I'm planning my patch for next season and i was wandering wetter the direction in witch a plant grows has any importance? I grew my 917lbs pumpkin on a plant that grew from SE to NW.My 680lbs was on a plant that grew in the opposite way NW to SE, but i don't know if it matters. I know when fruit trees are planted it does matter. What do you think?

Normally, I'd say it has no influence. I also never had a plant that had problems growing in any particular direction. But then, if you can decide on it and are not determined by the shape of your patch I'd let them grow from north to south.

LOL Stan....
If given the option I'd orient the plants so that the prevailing wind (if a solid patern exists) run the length of the main vine regardless of the suns exposure. Leaves orient themselves to the sun.
